Description
A Moose cow and its new calf in a creek in Montana USA. Moose give birth in the Spring and the calf will stay with it's mother for 1-2 years. Wildlife photography for your home or office.
The moose, Alces americanus, is the largest extant species in the deer biological family and the tallest mammal in North America. It stands six feet tall from shoulders to feet.
Moose are distinguished by the broad, flat antlers of the males. Moose typically inhabit boreal forests and temperate broadleaf and mixed forests of the Northern Hemisphere. Unlike most other deer species, moose are solitary animals and do not form herds. Although generally slow-moving and sedentary, moose can become aggressive and move quickly if angered or startled.
